Kuaska's review

I suggest it with stewed beef (in beer or wine) or with a roast with plums ‘made in Deutschland’.

Appearance is a brilliant ruby color with deep ruby reflections. A most attractive head, reminding me of the defunct Clarysse Oud Bruin of Oudenaarde.
Nose is dominated by a strong caramel with light notes of wine, black cherry and boiled plum.
Taste is harmonious with syrupy black cherry notes, it is sweet and fruity but never sickening thanks to bitter almond, tamarind and boiled plum notes.
Finish is surprisingly rich in fruit (a syrupy black cherry) than in hoppy notes. Bitterness is almost absent, leaving the field clear for a triumphant caramel.

A color you can drink!

As well as being the color of this beer it is also the name of the nearby Via Porpora which takes it name in turn from the opera composer and singing teacher Nicola Antonio Porpora (1686-1768). One of his pupils from his singing classes, the castrato Farinelli, made his debut in the first opera compsed by his teacher Porpora.
